Professor Hanzálek wins a prestigious project on the Horizon 2020 programme

Zdeněk Hanzálek has been awarded a prestigious grant for the Horizon 2020 programme.

Together with partners from ETH Zurich, Magneti Marelli and Airbus, his team, as part of the HERCULES project, will develop a system for autonomous control of a car based on heterogeneous multicore platforms.  The project is aimed at embedded systems which provide both a major computing power and at the same time they are sufficiently reliable and deterministic for critical applications running in real time.  Optimization algorithms and FPGA coprocessors designed by a team of CTU and University in the Modena help realise the full potential of new generation multicore platforms.

Collaborating company Magneti Marelli has a long-running history of developing systems for Ferrari racing cars as well as normal road cars. It has also been part of Ferrari and Renault winning teams in Formula 1 racing. Other successful inventions can be found on the website.
